December 12, 2017

In occasion of the International Anti-corruption Day 2017, the partners of the European Project ACTS, in collaboration with the Belgian Ministry of Economy and the International Chamber of Commerce in Belgium organized the event "Supporting SMEs against corruption", to discuss with EU insitutions and  stakeholders the tools and actions to be taken from European SMEs to prevent corrution.

Methodological Manual

The purpose of this handbook is to introduce the ACTs method among all those organisations, research centres, associations or institutions in Europe that might wish to replicate the experience of the ACTs project in order to analyse the corruption risk and define a set of useful measures for micro-SMEs to prevent the risk of corruption.

The volume, divided into two sections, describes in detail the concepts, actions and tools used for the project.

Part one is focused on the regulatory standards applied in the framework of the ACTs methodological setting-up. A description is provided as to the principles, underlying elements, ISO 31000:2009 methodological approach, as well as the Risk Management system and international standards used for the risk management process.

Part two includes a description of the “ACTs method” and of the reasons underlying the relevant choices made. The user is guided through the method implementation phases and learns about its objectives and associated actions.

For each phase in the method there is an in-depth analysis Box where mention is made of techniques which, although they have not been used, have been surveyed and discussed in the course of the experiment, and which could prove useful as integration in the event that the method should be replicated.

Specific sections (Focus ACTs) underscore the outcomes of the method application in the project partner countries. The Appendix includes templates for documents supporting the method development.
