Organized by the UK Government, the Anti-corruption Summit , which held in London on the 12th May 2016, was an attempt to give a global response to tackle corruption thanks to the participation of world leaders, business and civil society.

As well as agreeing a package of actions to tackle corruption across the board, it dealt with issues including corporate secrecy, government transparency, the enforcement of international anti-corruption laws, and the strengthening of international institutions.

An important accomplishment of the Anti-Corruption Summit was the establishment of the Global Forum for Asset Recovery, an initiative that will seek to return stolen assets to countries such as Nigeria, Ukraine, Tunisia and Sri Lanka and will meet for the first time in the US in 2017.

Another positive development was the creation of an institutional integrity network to help the developing world build stronger governmental institutions to tackle corruption. The Summit was preceded by a conference on 11st May for leaders in civil society, business and government who are championing the fight against corruption.
